Twenty-Five Keeps the Dream Alive

(this is a copy of a note sent via an Internet service
called Classmates to the Sonora High Class of 1957)

Sonora High School has a dream.

We want to create a new, state-of-the-art sports complex for the entire community to use.

Part of our dream has already become a reality:  Three years ago, with the support of several local individuals, organizations and NBC, we installed a new field turf surface on Dunlavy field.  It’s been a wonderful addition!

The next step is to install new stadium lights (where they won’t block your view during games and events) and an all-weather track.  Our goal is to complete this phase of the project during the summer of 2010.  We’re on the fast track..literally!

The estimated cost for the lights and track is about $700,000.  That includes considerable volunteer labor and in-kind donations from our very generous community.  But we still need cold, hard cash.

So far, we’ve raised $200,000.  We’re still a little short.  And that’s why we’re coming to the alumni.  We did the math and determined that if every living Sonora High Alumni would donate only $25.00 to the project, we’d have more than enough to finish the lights and track.

So that’s what we’re asking…a donation of $25.00.  You can either donate online through our website at www.trekforthetrack.org or mail us a check made out to Sonora High School Foundation, 430 North Washington, Sonora, CA  95370.  And remember, your donation is tax deductible.

Now, in reality, we know we’re not going to be able to find email or physical addresses for every single alumnus.  So if you can possibly donate more than $25, we would really appreciate it.

And one more request.  Can you please forward this email to any classmates, parents of classmates, or other alumni you know OR send them to the website listed above?  We’re counting on the power of networking to get the word out and the dollars in as soon as possible so we can get started!

Thank you so much for your support.  You’re helping us keep the dream alive!

Sincerely,

The Sonora High School Foundation
